MY'S BOSTON

By: Olivia H

We are beyond excited to have collaborated with My from @myohhmy on this very special "Voyage" feature. Windsor Avenue is an Instagram fan of My's and she really took this feature to the next level with this fabulously creative video, taking us all on a virtual tour of her fave shopping spots in Boston. We actually feel as if we spent the day with My visiting her top haunts. Aside from being stylish and sweet, My is a very talented illustrator, as you'll see in her video. Thanks My for this awesome post!!!

MY’S TOP 5 SPOTS TO SHOP IN BOSTON

Nowadays I do most of my shopping online. It's where I see the latest collection and find the best deals. When I have the time to enjoy walking through the city to shop, the following are are my top 5 spots for shopping. Watch my video and follow me along on Snapchat for my go-to shopping choices!

1. PRIMARK, DOWNTOWN BOSTON
I was so thrilled when Primark landed in Boston! I had fallen in love with the store upon my first visit to Scotland while studying design in the UK. Aside from the affordable and stylish clothes and accessories, I particularly like this store for the artwork, as it was a collaboration between my school, MassArt and Primark. There is a mural of the history of the Filene's building, the predecessor of this location now inhabited by Primark. It's also very historical and memorable to locals as an iconic store in the past, which makes it my favorite.

SOMETHING FUN: Phone charging stations and TV's with sports updates for the boyfriends and hubbies in the store while you shop.

2. BARNES & NOBLE, THE PRU
Every time I had needed inspiration on a design project, this was my go-to place. I would start by walking through the boulevard across Christian Science Park, into the Prudential Mall and beeline for Barnes & Noble. It was the route from my parent's house to the Copley area. B&N is like my personal library, with everything I could need. I usually find my ideas by looking through books and magazines on fashion, art, design, and architecture. When work was done, I would stroll through Prudential Mall and Newbury Streets to window shop.

MY FAVORITE BOOK AREA: You guessed it, The Arts.

3. WRENTHAM PREMIUM OUTLETS
The closest Premium Outlets to Boston, besides my other favorite Woodbury Outlets, would be Wrentham outlets. Why do I love it? Reasons: Discounted brand names where you can get sweet deals on women's & men's clothing, accessories, and home goods. One store that stands out to me the most is Crabtree & Evelyn. Kathy, who works there on weekends will greet her customers with tea and biscuits, making you feel sweet and warm with her awesome personality. The products speak for themselves, as they are great gift ideas especially during the holidays when they're all wrapped up in the prettiest bags ever.

MY FAVORITE STORES HERE: Kate Spade, Ted Baker, Tory Burch, Uggs, and Crabtree & Evelyn.

4. ASSEMBLY ROW
I am a pretty good bargain hunter. I once saw Prada and Gucci boots in this shoe section. And this time, I found Stuart Weitzman and Jimmy Choo. Right around the corner, is Boston's first Legoland, where the giant Lego giraffe, Geoffrey stands tall.  There are plenty of benches with heaters in the winter or outdoor seating area with a firepit, an appropriate setting for a night out.

WHERE TO SHOP: Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, J.Crew Outlets, Banana Republic Factory

5. THE STREETS
Well, shopping includes food, too, right? I love this area by Chestnut Hill, with so many boutique clothing stores and good eats. It's a very quiet and casual shopping area a little bit away from the city. Also in the area is Boston's one and only Bloomingdales for a more upscale shopping. Catch these giant bagel sculptures that are only going to be there for a little longer until New York-based artist Hanna Liden takes the installation to the next city.

FOOD TO TRY: Shake Shack, The Cottage, Kane's Donut (Pop-up until March 26) & Polkadog Bakery (for your pups)

These are my top 5 shopping spots in Boston. I always have a lot of fun sharing my memories of my experience at my favorite spots. Until next time!
